Habitat for Humanity Housing Challenge
Wed. April 16th (11am to 6:30pm)
Hubbard Park
The Habitat for Humanity Housing Challenge is an annual event held each spring within Hubbard Park on the University of Iowa campus. Student organizations, Fraternities, Sororities, Residence Halls, and various others will come together to build a city of cardboard homes used to raise awareness of the inadequate housing that exists across the world.
Kits that include cardboard, supplies, and decorations are distributed throughout the day to these various groups in exchange for a donation to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Once the group has gathered their kit, they are free to design, build, and decorate their homes which are then judged later that day. Awards include, but are not limited to, the prestigious golden hammer.
In conjunction with ARH and other campus organizations, live entertainment, food, and a variety of games will be on site throughout the day (see below for details). In addition, Z102.9 will be there to provide music, and individuals will have the opportunity to help construct a miniature home approximately 4ft by 4ft to be used in future habitat events.
See below for registration.
