| | | Iowa Ends Season
With Two Wins | Tuesday, April 21, 2009
Iowa
ended their 2009 season with wins over Kansas State and Iowa State last
weekend.
The Hawkeyes defeated Kansas State on Saturday,
15-6, led by Alex De La Pena?s five goals and three assists. On Sunday,
the Hawks defeated intra-state rival Iowa State, 12-11.
Iowa
finished the season 5-9, although they won four of its last five games.
Also, five of their nine losses were by three goals or fewer, so a lot
of close losses by the Hawkeyes.
No historical records have
been kept for the Hawkeyes, but sophomore Alex De La Pena?s 40 goals
and 50 assists are both more than likely single season team records.
His 6.42 points per game is currently the most among all Division I
players in the MCLA (through games of April 20).
Senior Eric
Robertson is next on the team in points, finishing the season with 43
points (26G, 17A). Freshman Yusuke Tachibana was third with 38 points
(26G, 12A).
Iowa used a two goalie system in net for most of
the season. Senior Nolan McGowan finished the season with 51.4% save
percentage, while freshman Mike Becker finished the season with a 50.7%
save percentage.
Be on the lookout in the next couple weeks
for news on next year?s captains and end of the year team awards. Also,
GRLC All-Conference teams will be announced in the next couple weeks.
And there will probably be some news on summer league options in the
Chicago area. | | | |

| | | Updated Fall
Information | Sunday, September 28, 2008
Iowa
Lacrosse has kicked off its fall schedule with the 6th Annual Alumni
Game this past weekend. The current team beat the old guys, but fun was
had by all. Pictures from the weekend should hopefully be up on the
site in the near future. If you have any pictures you would like to
send in, please e-mail them to Matt Benson.
The Hawks were supposed to start the fall season a couple weeks ago,
but Hurricane Ike's rain postponed the annual game with Iowa State for

for the Hawkeyes:
Friday, October 3 vs. Augustana - 5 PM -
Iowa City, IA (Hawkeye Rec Fields) Friday, October 17 vs. Iowa
State - 7 PM - Iowa City, IA (Hawkeye Rec Fields) Friday-Sunday,
October 24-26 - MadCity Lacrosse Tournament - Madison, WI (At least 3
games)
That is it for the team right now. Be on the look out
for Alumni Game pictures as well as an easy way to donate to the team
via paypal sometime later this week. | |
