Updated Fall Information
|
Sunday, September 28, 2008
Iowa Lacrosse has kicked off its fall schedule with the 6th Annual Alumni Game this past weekend. The current team beat the old guys, but fun was had by all. Pictures from the weekend should hopefully be up on the site in the near future. If you have any pictures you would like to send in, please e-mail them to Matt Benson.
The Hawks were supposed to start the fall season a couple weeks ago, but Hurricane Ike's rain postponed the annual game with Iowa State for later this fall. Here is what the rest of the fall schedule looks like for the Hawkeyes:
Friday, October 3 vs. Augustana - 5 PM - Iowa City, IA (Hawkeye Rec Fields)
Friday, October 17 vs. Iowa State - 7 PM - Iowa City, IA (Hawkeye Rec Fields)
Friday-Sunday, October 24-26 - MadCity Lacrosse Tournament - Madison, WI (At least 3 games)
That is it for the team right now. Be on the look out for Alumni Game pictures as well as an easy way to donate to the team via paypal sometime later this week.

New Design
|
Wednesday, August 6, 2008
HawkeyeLacrosse.com's new design is up and running. You will find a lot of the same content, but we are slowing adding new things to the site. There will be a new easy way to donate money to the team as well as new player bios. We are also going to do a Player of the Week once the season begins, so you can learn more about various players on the team.
We should also be adding the full fall schedule sometime later this month, so be on the look out for that as well as some more/new information regarding the 6th Annual Alumni Game.
Attention all incoming freshmen or others interested in playing on the team this season, please e-mail Adam Stillman, so the team can give you updated information about the team meeting at the beginning of the school year and other information.

2008 Alumni Game
|
Friday, June 6, 2008
The 6th Annual Iowa Lacrosse Alumni Game will take place on Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Hawkeye Rec Fields. We are trying out Friday night this year so more time will be allowed to tailgate before the 11 AM football game against Northwestern (Homecoming Game) on Saturday. More details on tailgating and other fun events for the weekend will be announced in the future.
If you plan on coming to the game, please contact Matt Benson at benson@mattybproductions.com, so we can get a head count on who is coming.
Also, if you have any ideas on how to make the game/weekend better, use the same e-mail above to express your ideas.
If you have any ideas on what should be this year's souvenir/fundraiser for the game (last year was a pint glass, the year before was a t-shirt), let us know.

End Of The Season Information
|
Wednesday, May 7, 2008
Iowa finished the season with a 7-5 record, including a 4-1 record in Division I-AA play, tying Kansas State and Mississippi for the division title, but due to probation status (due to missing a game last season), they were unable to go to playoffs.
The Hawkeyes voted for the annual team awards and captains for next year's team. The team captains will be:
Craig Millspaugh
Adam Stillman
Jon Ackerman
Alex De La Pena
The team awards for this past season (voted on by the team):
Team MVP: Matt Hanson
Offensive MVP: Alex De La Pena
Defensive MVP: Ben Diedrich
Most Improved: Matt Casaletto & Cameron Frank
The conference announced this year's All-GRLC teams this past weekend at the GRLC Tournament (Lindenwood beat Illinois by 1 for the Division I Championship, Harding won the Division II Championship). The following Hawkeyes were named to the GRLC Division I-AA Teams:
All-GRLC Division I-AA 1st Team: Adam Stillman (Attack), Will Evans (Attack), Casey Ervin (Midfield), Max Polan (Midfield), Ben Diedrich (Defense)
All-GRLC Division I-AA 2nd Team: Alex De La Pena (Attack), Craig Milspaugh (Midfield), Jon Ackerman (Defense)
All-GRLC Division I-AA Honorable Mention: Lee Lingenfelter (Defense), Matt Hanson (Goalie)
Congrats to those Hawkeyes.
That is it for now, but be on the lookout soon for a new site design plus some news regarding summer league in Chicago.

Iowa Finish Conference Schedule With 4-1 Record
|
Monday, April 14, 2008
The Hawkeyes ended their conference schedule with a 4-1 record after defeating Nebraska, 9-6, on Friday and Memphis, 17-13, on Sunday. With the wins, Iowa finished the GRLC I-AA schedule with a 4-1 record and a share of the Division I-AA title. Kansas State also finished the season with a 4-1 record, while Ole Miss is 2-1 with two conference games upcoming.
If Ole Miss loses one of those games, Iowa should get the #6 seed in the GRLC Conference Tournament. If Ole Miss wins out and also finishes 4-1, there will be a three-way tie for the two playoff spots granted to Division I-AA. Since each team went 1-1 against the other two teams, it would go to the top two teams based on goal differential in the required conference games. So the Hawkeyes will be scoreboard watching next weekend.
As for now, the Hawkeyes will wait and see their playoff fate. Also, the schedule and stats pages have been updated.
