Effective July 1, 2008, the Health Protection Office (HPO) will change its department name to the Environmental Health & Safety Office (EHS). This new department name is intended to more accurately reflect  the scope and mission of this office and to make its name more consistent with similar offices that exist at most universities that are responsible for the administration of biological safety, chemical safety, radiation safety, occupational safety, select environmental programs (waste management) and other programs  deemed necessary for the health and safety of the University community.
