MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE/PREVENTIVE HEALTH
University Employee Health Clinic (UEHC), located in Clinic A Boyd Tower, UIHC (356-3632), evaluates work-related employee health concerns. This office provides preventive medical surveillance for faculty and staff members exposed to potentially hazardous environments.
UEHC evaluates any health complaint related to the work environment, however, it does not provide medical treatment. UEHC provides preventive medical surveillance for staff members exposed to potentially hazardous environments that have been designated for monitoring. Examples of surveillance include audiometric exams for noise induced hearing loss, physical exams for respirator usage, and asbestos exposure evaluation. The office provides baseline examinations and follow-ups that may be required by specific Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Regulations. UEHC also provides preventive health education for employees and their supervisors. Please refer to University Operations Manual 70.080 for additional information.
