TO: SEIU Staff
I would like to draw your attention to some recent improvements for UI staff that University Human Resources staff have implemented:
A new, online learning tool is now available that will more easily fit personal and professional development into your busy life. “Myquickcoach” is an ever-changing library of short videos, articles and guides from recognized leaders in their field of expertise. I encourage you to explore the topics and speakers included, and share those you find interesting with your colleagues. In this way, you can both enhance your own development, and that of those around you. You can access “myquickcoach” either through Self Service, or directly at http://uiowa.athenaonline.com
Individuals retiring from the University are now assured of their ability to buy life insurance up to the amount they had while actively employed at the University. While the personal purchase of such insurance is not necessarily the best option for all retirees, the ability to secure coverage after leaving University employment without consideration of health conditions can be very important for some. We think this will prove to be of benefit for future retirees.
The convenience of our online ePersonnel file system recent was enhanced by adding the ability to scan documents into individual files. In this way, departments can replace paper file contents with scanned images. The ePersonnel file continues to have security restrictions about who can enter documents and who can view your file, besides yourself, through Self Service. If you have questions about your ePersonnel file, please contact your Unit HR Representative (as listed in Self Service).
I would also like to remind you that by July 20, your “Annual Total Compensation Statement” in Self Service will be updated to reflect your July 1, 2013 salary rate. This statement displays the value of your insurance, retirement and other benefits, along with your base salary rate, thereby reflecting the total compensation received through your employment at the University. This total compensation statement remains available to you throughout the year in Self Service.
This has already been a busy and productive year for staff on our campus. The recent preparations for potential flooding were yet one more reminder of the excellent work our staff do to support our campus year round. Whether welcoming students, caring for patients or meeting project deadlines, our staff step up to meet the challenges that come our way. I hope that you can take pride in your accomplishments and those of your fellow staff members, as well as in the University as a great place to work.
