Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance provides coverage at all times for most accidents that occur on or off the job, at home or away, anywhere in the world. However, there are some exclusions listed in the master policy.

Group -- This University-paid benefit provides life insurance coverage for all Faculty, Professional and Scientific, Merit Supervisory Exempt, and Merit staff.
Supplemental -- This optional program allows you to obtain additional life insurance, for yourself only, in excess of the amount provided by the group life coverage.
Long-term Care Insurance is a voluntary benefit available to eligible University of Iowa employees and their eligible family members. The Insurance is offered through John Hancock Insurance.
There are two (2) long-term disability insurance programs available to you:
Long-Term Disability -- The Long-Term Disability Insurance is mandatory, and is paid for by the University. The University-paid Long-Term Disability Insurance benefits are incremental; there is a five-year period before the plan reaches the full benefit level.
Wrap-Around Long-Term Disability --The Wrap-Around Long-Term Disability Insurance is a voluntary supplemental insurance used to supplement the University-paid Long-Term Disability Insurance during the period which that plan is not at full benefit level.
This voluntary program, available to faculty, professional and scientific, and merit supervisory exempt staff, allows you to obtain life insurance for your spouse and/or your children. If you would like to participate you have the choice of six programs. Each selection gives your spouse and/or dependents the life insurance as noted. The employee will always be the beneficiary in case of the death of a spouse and/or dependent.
As an employee of The University of Iowa, you have the opportunity to purchase optional discounted insurance products. Employees who are paid monthly can do this through payroll deduction. These programs are voluntary.
