The office of Faculty and Staff Services/Employee Assistance Program (FSS/EAP) strives to help University employees and their departments cope with personal, family, and work-related problems. Most of our services are provided at no charge.
What Services Are Offered?
- 1:1 Counseling is provided by the Employee Assistance Program, a confidential, voluntary counseling program available to University of Iowa faculty and staff who have a permanent full- or part-time appointment, and to their family members. Up to four sessions are offered at no charge.
- Supervisory Referrals to counselors at Faculty and Staff Services may assist individual employees with problems that affect their work performance.
- Depression Support --
If you are feeling hopeless, tearful most of the time, noticing changes in your eating and/or sleeping patterns, or having lessened interest in things you have formerly enjoyed, you may be experiencing some depression. There is help for this and it is close at hand. Your Employee Assistance Program can help.
Well@Work is a for-fee project designed to assist both the employee and the workplace in providing support services for employees with depression. Resources for the employee include 6-8 coaching sessions over a 6-month period, a personality assessment, readings, and CDs to increase positive habits and concentration. In addition, the employee may elect to have the counselor facilitate a discussion with his/her supervisor, to explore additional ways for creating a productive, supportive work experience.
