Provides individual nutrition counseling, four-week classes in heart healthy eating, and exercise programs specifically designed to assist in weight management. Physician referral may be required for services. -

Controlling Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Blood Glucose Levels

Cardiovascular Health, Assessment, Management, and Prevention Services (CHAMPS )
UIHC, 356-4652. Provides preliminary evaluation of blood pressure, and follows with an ECG-monitored functional evaluation, ideal body weight and percent body fat, and lipid profile. The program can include nutritional assessment and physical assessment in order to design a tailored exercise program for individuals. -
Lipid Research Clinic , UIHC, 384-5030
Performs research studies on new and approved drugs used to lower lipid levels. Provides screening for all potential participants and medical and dietary monitoring for qualified study participants. -
REACH (Reaching Euglycemia and Comprehensive Health), Reabilitation Therapies, 356-2663
REACH is an 8-week program designed for people at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes to prevent or delay the onset of complications related to high blood sugar. Free diabetes risk assessment and fasting blood sugar are also offered through this program. -
University Employee Health Clinic, UIHC, 356-3631
Evaluates and monitors individual blood pressures for primary care provider follow-up. It also provides information in the area of men’s and women’s health and referrals to primary care services. -

This service is provided through the Health Protection Office. A risk factor assessment is available for individuals or an entire department. Focus is placed on the prevention and control of environmental factors that can lead to musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace. -

The liveWELL program from UI Wellness and UI Benefits offers a free one-on-one Health Coach service to assist in tobacco cessation and other lifestyle improvement areas. When working in conjunction with a Health Coach, UI employees can receive reimbursement for receipts totaling up to $300 for Nicotine Replacement Therapy or other smoking cessation medications.

Toll-free statewide smoking cessation telephone counseling line. Trained counselors provide individuals with assistance in stopping smoking. -
Rehabilitation Therapies, UIHC, 356-2663
Provides four different smoking cessation program options. Assistance with smoking cessation in the Stop Smoking Clinic is conducted by professional nurses trained in smoking cessation by the American Lung Association. liveWELL Health Coach clients can attend the Rehabilitation Therapies Smoking Cessation Clinic for a reduced fee; the University will pay for 75% of this program with a referral from a Health Coach." -
