My career began as a direct health care provider who had the passion to promote primary prevention and to facilitate individuals to become empowered health consumers. This passion quickly evolved to be the core of my career-long mission, regardless of who I serve, the academic and professional credentials I attain, the roles I assume, or the setting where I do my work. I am fortunate to be a member of the Department of Health and Sport Studies where the outcomes of my teaching, research, and service not only serve the needs of the students, the discipline, and the college, but also are compatible with my own mission and sense of purpose.
