The 2009-10 Black Male Forum The Black Male Forum is a series of moderated conversations that deal with crucial issues related to student life. In the past, these discussions have focused on topics like “How to Survive at a Predominately White Institution?” and “Colorism/Pigmentocracy.” Generally held at the Afro-American Cultural Center or the “Afro House” (303 Melrose Avenue), the forum provides candid talk, informal access to faculty, and free food. In Spring 2009, the University of Iowa Office of Student Life recognized the Hubbard Group’s Black Male Forum by presenting it an Outstanding Support and Research Award. For 2009-2010, we will strive to build on this achievement. Presently, the Black Male Forum roster is as outlined below. Please check Culture Shock (our programming calendar) for more precise details regarding the scheduling of Black Male Forum programs. If you have questions about the Black Male Forum or if you are disabled and need accommodations, please contact Motier Haskins at motier-haskins AT uiowa DOT edu.
