Humanities Iowa, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, granted $400 to the Davis County Civil War Guerrilla Raid Society for the Sixth Annual Davis County Civil War Days and Living History Encampment. The event is free and open to the public. It will be held on October 9 from Noon to 9:00 PM, October 10 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and October 11 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Bloomfield, Iowa.
This three day event is held to commemorate Iowa’s role in the Civil War. According to project director, Deb Schinder-Grim, the event will include battle reenactments, a quilting demonstration, a visit from President Lincoln, a period dress competition, a question and answer session, and more.
"The Davis County Civil War Days offers a chance for Iowans of any age to experience their state’s history", said Humanities Iowa Executive Director Christopher Rossi, "and our organization is pleased to support such an experience."
