HI Grants $2,610 for GBLT youth education

Humanities Iowa, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, granted $2,610 to the GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task Force for "Dismantling Discrimination; Education Educators" program. The program, a two-day training program for educators, will be offered in Elkader, Cedar Falls, Sioux City, Creston, Council Bluffs, Cedar Rapids, Pocahontas, and Johnston from August 20, 2010 to September 25, 2010.

The program is a fifteen hour license renewal training, split over two days, for educators. Project director Nate Monson said the training's mission is to provide support and education to Iowa's education staff, as well as safe and informative forums on GBLT youth related issues.

The mission of Humanities Iowa is to promote understanding and appreciation of the people, communities, cultures, and stories of importance to Iowa and the nation.  For more information on funding opportunities from Humanities Iowa, see its website at http://www.humanitiesiowa.org.
