HI awards $350 to the LeClaire Historical Society

Humanities Iowa, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, granted $350 to the Genealogy and Historical Society of LeClaire Township for the Second Glendale Cemetery Historic Walk.  The event is free and open to the public.  The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 11 AM to 3 PM.  It is scheduled to begin in the Mississippi Valley Welcome Center And Glendale Cemetery.

According to project director, Wanda Gardner, the event will include twelve costumed actors portraying famous historic LeClaire residents.  The historic residents will interact with the audience and share history of the time, locale, and their personal life..

“Our organization is pleased to provide support to historical events,” said Humanities Iowa executive director, Christopher Rossi, “where Iowans can experience a unique piece of history from famous Iowans of the past."
