Humanities Iowa, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, granted $2,090 to the St. Ambrose University for a premiere screening of the documentary, In the Shadow of the Raid (2009). The screening will occur on Wednesday, March 10th at 7:00 p.m. at the Rogalski Center Ballrooms at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA.
According to project director, Lisa Powell, the film will cover the Postville, Iowa immigration raid, and the result the raid has on the Postville community and the villages in Guatemala. The screening will also include a panel discussion with filmmakers and Postville community leaders.
"Our organization is pleased to provide support for the telling of stories that impact the lives of Iowans," said Humanities Iowa executive director, Christopher Rossi. "Not all humanities stories are celebratory, but they still need to be told."
