
Harry Brod

Harry
Brod, of Cedar Falls, is a Professor of Philosophy and
Humanities in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University
of Northern Iowa.
Dr.
Brod received his PhD and M.A. in philosophy from the University of
California at San Diego in 1981 and 1975. He received a B.A. in Humanities
from New York University in 1972. His publications include The Legacy
of the Holocaust (Jagiellonian University Press, 2002), Hegel's
Philosophy of Politics (Westview, 1992) and several edited volumes. His academic work concentrates on the interdisciplinary study
of gender, specifically men's studies.
A
sampling of Professor Brod's course teachings includes:
Introduction to Philosophy, Biblical and Classical Cultures,
Feminist Theory, Humanities, Theories of Liberation and Men and Masculinities. Before accepting his position at UNI,
he taught at Temple University and the University of Delaware. He has also lectured at UCLA, USC, Mount
Saint Mary's College, Los Angeles, Kenyon College and the University
of Pennsylvania.
Professor
Brod headed up the University Honors program at UNI until recently.
