Since the July meeting, Humanities Iowa has said
goodbye to three board members who have retired.
Humanities Iowa also welcomes four new board
members, George Barlow, Graciela Caneiro-Livingston,
Sally Phelps, and Sam Mulgrew.

It's August and that means it's Iowa
State Fair time. What better way to
prepare for the Iowa State Fair then
to reminisce about memories from
years gone past? Mary Kay Shanley
knows Iowans have many shared
memories and she wants to share
some of her own and hear some of

Denny Rehder draws on folk songs
and stories to tell all about trains in
Iowa, including the transcontinental
race across Iowa. Two chances to
come see what all the noise is about!

The human figure is fascinating. It
has appeared in art and sculpture
from antiquity to present, and Dr.
Hutchins would like to take you on
a journey in time. Join her and see
how the human figure was viewed
through the eyes of others.

Humanities Iowa Major Grant recipient, Creating Great Places, is offering eight Iowa cultural organizations the opportunity to host a presentation of the two-man play Peace Through
. Interested organizations can learn more. Applications must be received by September 6, 2010.
