This month the Humanities Iowa Board of Directors will
meet to discuss and award Major Grants for the second
grant cycle for this fiscal year. During the first grant cycle,
in November 2009, the board awarded over $80,000.

Grant Wood, the man behind
American Gothic. But who is this man
and what is his story? Come meet
the man on several dates this
month!


Iowa's veterans of the 19th and 20th
century, as Michael Vogt knows,
have left behind various materials to
share their stories. What was life like
as a soldier in the eyes of these
men? Vogt provides such a view with
his presentation on Soldier Voices:
The Iowa National Guard and the
Spanish-American War
. Come
experience the life of Iowa's
veterans.

Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of Little House series, spent some of her
time living in Iowa and other Midwest
states. Sarah Uthoff, an active Wilder researcher, and Wilder actor,
will present an overview of Laura's
life twice this month. Will her
presentations be near you? Find out!
