2006 Research Team
The I-CAN group was created in 2006 and these student researches got it off to a great start. All information is current through 2006.
Students
Barrett Anderson
Barret is a junior from Clive, Iowa. He is a member of the Iowa Mock Trial team and is President of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Barrett is pursuing degrees in Economics and Political Science, as well as a minor in History. He will graduate in May 2008 and intends to enter law school shortly thereafter.
Meredith DeBoom
Meredith is a second year student from Sibley, Iowa. Meredith is a member of the UI Student Government and Treasurer of Delta Zeta sorority. She will graduate in May 2009 with degrees in Political Science and International Studies, along with a minor in Economics. Upon graduation Meredith plans to attend graduate school, focusing on International Relations or Development with the goal of eventually working for a governmental or international organization.
James Ehrmann
James is a senior Political Science major from Bettendorf, Iowa. He is President of the Greek Interfraternity Council and Commissioner on the Iowa City Telecommunications Commission. After graduating in May 2007, James will attend law school with the ultimate goal of becoming a criminal prosecutor and serving in a legislative body.
Emily Galt
Emily is a third year student from Urbandale, Iowa. She is a member of Women in Business and the Financial Management Association. Emily will graduate in May 2007 with B.B.A.s in both Finance and Marketing, as well as a minor in Political Science and an International Business Certificate; upon graduation she hopes to work in the SE Asia
division of a large multinational corporation.
John Heineman
John is a fourth year Biology and Political Science double-major from Grinnell, IA. John is a member of the UI Water Polo team and Sigma Chi Fraternity and studied abroad at Oxford University (Magdalen College) during the Fall 2005 term. His future goals include attending medical school and reforming the nation's current health-care policy.
Alexander Ingham
Alexander Ingham is a sophomore from Clinton, Iowa. He is currently on the 10,000 Hours Show staff and collaborating with a number of different organizations on a campus-wide recycling project. Alex is studying Political Science, International Studies, and Journalism & Mass Communication and, upon graduation, plans to dedicate himself to the service of others in whatever capacity becomes available.
Jacqueline Leonard
Jacqueline is a third year student from St. Louis, Missouri. She is a member of the Iowa Mock Trial team and is a staff member of the University Honors Program. Jacqueline will graduate in May 2008 with an honors degree in Political Science, an International Business Certificate, and minors in both Geography and Spanish; her career goal is to become an environmental policy-maker.
Sarah Porter
Sarah is a junior Political Science major from Omaha, Nebraska. She is involved with the University of Iowa Orchestra, as well as the floor government of her dormitory. Following graduation, Sarah will dedicate her time to non-profit advocacy work.
Brett Roberts
Brett is a fourth year student from Carroll, Iowa, who will graduate in May 2007 with degrees in both Political Science and Journalism. Brett is a Writing Fellow and President of the S.T.A.T. Ambassadors. Upon graduation, Brett will pursue a career in the legal profession.
Stacey Schmitt
Stacey is a fourth year transfer student from Des Moines, Iowa. She will graduate in May 2007 with a degree in Political Science and plans to work in the field of public policy analysis after volunteering with AmeriCorps.
Mac Thummel
Mac is a fourth year Political Science major from Clarinda, Iowa. Mac plans to teach English overseas upon graduation in May 2007.
