Summer Undergraduate Research Conference
The Graduate College is sponsoring our 3rd Annual Summer Undergraduate Research Conference on Wednesday July 30 (1:00 to 5:00 pm) at the Sheraton Hotel downtown Iowa City .
Who is eligible to present?
Any undergraduate student actively involved in a research project on the UI campus this summer. The student may
be part of a formal summer undergraduate program. Alternatively, the student may be pursuing an individual
project with a UI faculty member over the summer. All are welcome and encouraged to present their work.
What is the forum?
Students will present their research in a poster format. If a talk will work better for the presentation, then
please let us know, and we can work with you to coordinate an oral session. Two poster presentation times will
be set up so that students will be at their posters for about half the time and able to visit other presentations
during the other period. If oral sessions are scheduled, they will run concurrently with the poster sessions.
Who can attend?
In addition to our presenters, we are looking for attendees among our undergraduate mentors, interested faculty
and students from the undergraduates’ sponsoring departments/programs, and anybody else from the undergraduates’
research labs.
What is the cost?
Nothing! The Graduate College is sponsoring this event as an end-of-summer celebration of these undergraduate
research efforts across many of our programs. It’s a way for all of us to acknowledge the efforts of these
students in our programs this summer and to strengthen our contacts with them. Hopefully, we’ll succeed in
recruiting some of them back to Iowa for their graduate training.
