1. Students interested in nutrition are invited to contact Cathy Chenard (Catherine-chenard@uiowa.edu) to inquire about opportunities to assist with a clinical research study.
2. The Department of Biochemistry is seeking students who are serious about science for research opportunities for academic credit or for pay.
- Frosh and sophomores with a long-term interest in graduate school are especially encouraged to apply.
- BIOC:3115 (99:115) Undergraduate Independent Study has no prerequisites and may be arranged as a tutorial, or as a commitment to experimental work, depending on the desires of the student and supervising faculty member. Honors Research Practicum is also available.
- You may indicate your interest in a course or part-time employment by submitting the application for part-time research opportunities to the Biochemistry Office (4-403 Bowen Science Bldg.) or by sending it to Ms. Maggie Spencer and asking that it be shared with all faculty.
- Students are also welcome to contact faculty directly via email to discuss the possibility of conducting research with them.
3. Research Opening - Biophysical Chemistry - Shea Laboratory
- First and second year students interested in preparing for a career in research are invited to apply to join a laboratory studying protein-protein interactions in calcium-mediated signal transduction.
- Strong math skills, the ability to organize data, and fascination with chemistry, biology and physics are essential.
- Openings are for academic credit (BIOC:3115, HONR:3200), volunteer or Work Study positions starting this summer.
- Please send a completed Biochemistry application to Dr. Shea (madeline-shea@uiowa.edu, 4-403 BSB) in the Dept. of Biochemistry.
4. Research Openings - Department of Psychology
- We will consider outstanding undergraduates who are interested in research, particularly in developmental/social/clinical areas.
- Most of those positions will be for credit (possibly to evolve into paying positions), but we would be open to considering a paid position for an exceptional student (preferably with research experience). The relevant ad will be on jobnet soon.
