  1. Define needs analysis, task analysis, student analysis, flowchart, and storyboard. How do these components traditionally fit into the software development process? When should they be used and when should they be omitted?

  2. Under what circumstances are formative evaluations important? Who should participate in formative evaluations? When should formative evaluations happen?

  3. Under what circumstances are summative evaluations important? Who should participate in summative evaluations? When should summative evaluation happen?

  4. Should research on computer-based instruction continue? If so, what kinds of issues should the research address? If not, where should academic efforts be focused?

  5. Describe the major cognitive factors important to computer-based instruction as opposed to other media. How can these affect your decisions as a developer of instructional software?

  6. What do you think are the major issues/questions we will be facing in the next five years in computer-based instruction? What should we do to take advantage of those issues?

  7. How can we improve computer-based instruction in public schools? What can we do as private citizens? What can we do as knowledgeable instructional designers?

  8. How does the debate about improving computer-based instruction affect the private sector? For example, how is business affected by CBI issues that affect public schools?
