The software packages you may choose from are:
MoreNo more than four people should sign up for any one program. Choosing presentation packages will happen during class.
Powerpoint
Hyperstudio
Canvas
HyperCard or SuperCard
All these software packages work on the Macintosh. More and Powerpoint are specifically for creating presentations. Powerpoint works on both Mac and Windows and a file created with it can be used on either platform. Hyperstudio is a multimedia presentation package marketed to educators. Canvas is a computer graphics program, but includes a "slide show" utility. HyperCard and SuperCard are general authoring programs that can be used to create slide shows as well. The first three are easier to use. The last are more challenging but more flexible. More and Powerpoint are on the Nebula network (Powerpoint should also be on Windows). The rest should be on individual hard disks in the lab--ask the computer lab monitors.
The topic of your slide presentation is the particular presentation software itself. Your slide presentation should have 4 slides. The first should describe the main features. The second should describe how a slide presentation is created when using that software. The third should say what is good about the software. The fourth should say what is bad about the software. The slides should be aesthetically appropriate. The slide sequence should be easy and intuitive to control.
On April 24, you will give a live presentation of five minutes duration. You will go through your four slides (projected via the overhead projector) and describe the features, procedures, good points, and bad points of the software. Everyone working in a group should do part of the presentation. You should be able to answer questions from classmates and from me. Your presentation should last no more than 5 minutes.
