Choose one of the tutorial lessons listed below. The manuals are all available at the Lab Monitor's desk. The programs all run on the Macintosh computers and are stored on the NEBULA.MACAPPS server in the Education ITC folder, in the Lessons folder. There will be directions for accessing network programs on the front cover of those manuals. Startup directions inside the manual should be ignored (although other documentation should be read).
If the manual for the lesson you wish to review is already checked out or is missing, select a different one. It is advisable (but not necessary) to review a lesson on a topic you know something about.
Review the documentation and go through all parts of the lesson several times taking notes on its content and quality. Base your evaluation on Chapter 2 of your textbook. Remember to try lots of incorrect as well as correct answers. Test the limits of the lesson.
Dont give up too easily! Some programs may be a bit difficult to get started, may work only on particular computers (for example may require a color monitor), or may have confusing directions. Ask a monitor or Bryan for help if you need it. But keep trying.
Type, using any word processor, a one page description followed by a two-page evaluation of the lesson and its manuals. Clear, precise, graduate level writing is expected. Your name should be on the first page.
Turn in a printout of your review in a 9 by 12 campus mail envelope with your name on the envelope. Also turn in a diskette with the word processor file, labeled with your name, the type of computer (Macintosh or IBM), and the name of the word processor used (e.g. Microsoft Word). Everything turned in should be in the 9 by 12 campus mail envelope.
You may (optionally) turn it your word processor file via the computer network. In that case, put a note in the campus mail envelope telling me the name of the folder and the name of the file. If you turn in an electronic file only, the file should be in the format of a word processor widely available across campus in ITCs (such as Word 6, WordPerfect, and the like).
