Melissa earned her M.A. in Linguistics with TESL focus and her Ph.D. in Linguistics from The University of Iowa. Her interests include first and second language acquisition of vocabulary as well as materials development.

She studied abroad in Costa Rica and has visited many countries throughout the world. Her hobbies include traveling, reading, and playing with her cat.
