Honors
The University of Iowa's Honors Program is dedicated to the academic and personal enrichment of its students. Students pursuing interdisciplinary majors qualify for membership in the University Honors Program by maintaining a University of Iowa grade point average of 3.33 or above.
Graduating with Honors includes the successful completion of the honors requirements in the particular department most closely related to the intellectual focus of the student's Plan of Study. An Interdepartmental Studies student should inquire about graduating with Honors by contacting the coordinator early in his/her junior year in order to allow time for foundation coursework.
A special form for approval of the honors project must be filed with the Interdepartmental Studies coordinator, the director of the Honors Program, and the student's Interdepartmental Studies adviser.
Students who graduate with Honors have a designation of the departmental focus of the Honors project noted on the final transcript, e.g., "Honors/Anthropology."
