Center for International Rural and Environmental Health (CIREH)

Burton Kross, Director

The Center for International Rural and Environmental Health (CIREH) fosters interdisciplinary research and instruction into the causes, consequences, and prevention of communicable, chronic, environmental, and occupational diseases in nations with substantial agrarian economies. CIREH provides a special emphasis on health and development research issues in the areas of policy, planning, and evaluation. Founded within CICS in 1985 as an international health seminar, CIREH is now an independent center supporting faculty research, a visiting scholars program, and undergraduate and graduate programs in international health.
