Adler Update

The 65,500-square-foot Philip D. Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building is being constructed west of the Pentacrest and adjacent to the Samuel L. Becker Communication Studies Building, the UI Main Library, and the English-Philosophy Building.

The $19 million Adler Building, scheduled for completion in 2004, will secure a bright future for the school, ensuring that top-notch students and faculty from across the state and around the globe will be drawn to the UI and provided with the tools and environment they need to do their best work.

TheAdler Building will house the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, part of the College of Liberal Arts and sciences, along with The Daily Iowan and the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature.

The UI and the state of Iowa are doing their part by providing essential funding for this important project. Those who believe in the school’s mission must join together to commit $6 million in private gifts.

As of March 31, the campaign has raised $4,831,455 (80.5 percent). Please help us achieve our goal by checking the following Web site for gift submissions: www.goodbetterbestiowa.org/journalism

Before the end of 2005 the goal is to raise $1.5 to 2 million to help maintain the program and keep technology up to date.
