Eric Andersen

Des Moines, Iowa
Andersen is double majoring in journalism and marketing with a minor in flreligious studies. He is currently an arts and culture reporter for The Daily Iowan and has done freelance work for Des Moines’ Cityview and Off Deadline magazine. Andersen hopes to land a job in the music magazine industry after graduating, but is open to exploring other topics.
Amanda Bailey

Davenport, Iowa
Bailey is majoring in journalism and pursuing a certificate in sexuality studies. She has worked as an editorial writer for The Daily Iowan and as an editorial assistant for Buckle Down Publishing. After graduation, she plans to work for a magazine or publishing company as an editor.
Nawaar Farooq

Farooq is currently working on her master’s degree in journalism; she received her B.A. in journalism and psychology with a minor in religious studies. She works at a photography studio as a portrait photographer and is a teaching assistant for Legal Issues in Mass Communication as well as Publication Design. She plans on working in the field of magazine design and photojournalism after graduation.
Teela Hammell

Hammell is double majoring in journalism and international studies with a minor in psychology. She recently finished an internship at The WiderNet Project, a non-profit organization at The University of Iowa that works to improve digital communication in developing countries. In the future, she plans on working in the field of counseling psychology.
Justin Hoehn

Hoehn is double majoring in journalism and English while attending The University of Iowa. He is a seven-year veteran of the radio broadcasting industry. He plans on working in the media relations field and hopes to begin writing his first novel after graduation.
Adrienne Klopfenstein

Klopfenstein is a second year MAP student focusing on print and online journalism with an interest in health and nutrition writing. She received a B.A. in communications and biology from The University of Puget Sound. Before attending The University of Iowa, Klopfenstein edited and marketed professional athlete autobiographies for children. Currently she is a teaching assistant for Media and Consumers as well as Legal Issues in Mass Communication.
Ross Koppenhaver

Koppenhaver is majoring in journalism with a minor in English. He recently finished an internship with the West Liberty Index and currently works for Daily Iowan TV. He plans on working in broadcast news after graduation.
Cristina Larson

Larson is double majoring in journalism and communication studies. She is the firm director of Public Relations Student Society of America and co-president of Society of Professional Journalists. She has completed internships at WGN-TV, DiMeo & Company and The Children’s Heart Foundation and is currently interning with Hey U G L Y. She plans on working with non-profit organizations assisting in public relations, fundraising and event planning after graduation.

Lutfi is majoring in journalism with a concentration in Middle Eastern international studies. He is currently interning as a metro reporter for The Daily Iowan. He also worked for Kirkwood Student Productions and plans to work as an international journalist for Link TV or Freespeech TV.
David McNace

McNace is double majoring in journalism and sports studies and minoring in business administration. He currently works as a sports intern for the West Liberty Index and previously worked as a volunteer reporter for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He plans on working in public relations after graduation.

Nelson is in his fifth semester as a master’s student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, and worked for three years as a copy editor at the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier in Waterloo, Iowa, before coming to The University of Iowa.
Ashton Newman

Newman is double majoring in journalism and communication studies. She is concentrating in public relations and recently finished an internship with the development director at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She plans on moving to Colorado and working in public relations or journalism after graduation.
Morgan Olsen

Olsen is majoring in journalism with a concentration in sexuality studies and a minor in Spanish. She is a member and co-president of Society of Professional Journalists. She recently completed an internship at Marie Claire in New York City and would like to work in the magazine industry after graduation.
Sarah Raaii

Ames, Iowa
Raaii is double majoring in journalism and economics with a pre-law emphasis. She is vice president of Associated Iowa Honors Students, marketing director of University Lecture Committee, Writing Fellow for the Honors Program and ICRU Research Fellow for journalism Professor Leo Eko. She recently interned at Target Corporation HQ and has as a reporter and freelance copy editor for The Des Moines Register, The Ames Tribune and The Daily Iowan. She hopes to apply her interests in law and business to her journalism background.
Richard Johns (Instructor)
Adviser and editor Richard Johns is an adjunct instructor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In addition to teaching the Iowa Journalist course (19:178) which produces the Iowa Journalist he also teaches the Methods of Secondary School Journalism. He also is the faculty advisor for the Society of Professional Journalists.
Cynthia Feng (Teaching Assistant)

Feng is a second year master’s student in professional journalism. Her area of interest includes television news and documentary. She is a teaching assistant for two journalism courses. She is currently producing her documentary film, "The American Dream of The Chinese," as her master’s project. Feng plans to become a television journalist in China after she graduates in May 2010.
