Jake Brus
senior
Denison, Iowa
Brus is a senior graduating in May with a degree in journalism and mass communication, and a minor in sociology. He has completed two public relations internships and hopes to land a job in that field upon graduation.

Tara Drake
senior
Griswold, Iowa
Drake is double majoring in political science and journalism and mass communication. As an undergraduate, she worked with the Office of Admissions, Recreation Services and Orientation Services. Drake is also involved in several political and volunteer student organizations on campus. She is engaged and will marry her college sweetheart this summer. After graduation, Drake will attend law school.

Rachel Erb
senior
Washington, Iowa
Erb is a journalism major transfer student from Drake University. She has been at The University of Iowa for two years and will graduate in December. Erb participates in the Society of Professional Journalists, the Iowa Democratic Party and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. She also has a marketing internship with a movie theatre company based out of Chicago.

Myriam Fallon
senior
Chicago, Ill.
Fallon will be graduating in December with a degree in art and journalism with an emphasis in photography. After graduation she hopes to continue her photographic work outside of college in a number of different venues including artistic work and documentary work. Fallon is currently working as a photographer for On Campus magazine and is in the process of applying for the U.S. Peace Corps.

Ashley Feddersen
senior
Iowa City, Iowa
Feddersen is double majoring in journalism and business and will graduate in December. She spent a year as a designer for Content Magazine. Feddersen currently works as a marketing intern at CIVCO Medical Solutions and as a server at Takanami Restaurant. She plans to take on a full-time position at CIVCO after graduation.

Laura Fogelberg
senior
Edina, Minn
Fogelberg is majoring in journalism and concentrating on cultural studies. She is also pursuing a minor in French. Fogelberg interned with Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine this past summer and hopes to return after graduation in May. Her long time career goal is to be a travel writer.

Kimn Gollnick
senior
Marion, Iowa
After many adventures, Gollnick returned to college to finish a double major in journalism and English. In Seattle, she worked as a stringer for The Marysville Globe and as a benefits specialist at The Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Gollnick freelanced for 14 years and coauthored “Getting Your Financial House in Order.” She taught writing and Web design in the Marion school district for 6 years where she lives with her husband and two sons. After graduation she wishes to earn her M.A.T. or M.F.A. while writing and teaching.

Brittany Korb
senior
Fond du Lac, Wis.
Korb will be graduating in May with a degree in journalism and communication studies. Korb is the Assistant Promotions Director on the Homecoming Council, Communications Director for PRSSA, Layout Director for Content Magazine and Public Relations and Marketing Intern for the Pomerantz Career Center. Korb has a passion for traveling and her recent travels to Lueneburg, Germany have prompted her to consider a life abroad after graduation.

Katie Goldensoph
senior
DeWitt, Iowa
Goldensoph is majoring in journalism with a concentration in family studies. She is currently the programs and marketing intern at The University of Iowa Alumni Association. Her main responsibility is to assist in event planning and membership marketing for the Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow student organization. Goldensoph hopes to work for a non-profit organization after graduating in May.

Amy Hansen

Indianola, Iowa
Hansen is a double major in journalism and mass communication and history. On campus, she is very active in her sorority, Delta Zeta, and writes for Content Magazine. She also works as a writer and photographer for Jostens’ We’ve Got Game.

Matt Hauge
senior
Grimes, Iowa
Hauge is general manager of Student Video Productions, a University of Iowa student organization that makes television shows for the campus cable channel, UITV. He is pursuing a degree in journalism and American studies and intends to graduate in May to a career in nonprofit development.

Paige McManigal
senior
Mason City, Iowa
McManigal will graduate in May with a degree in journalism with a concentration in sociology and communication studies. She has been involved in Ed on Campus, since late 2006. After graduation, McManigal hopes to find work in the fashion industry or own her own business.

Lindsey Tinnell
senior
Davenport, Iowa
Tinnell is double majoring in journalism and international studies with a double minor in women’s studies and English. She is a member of Public Relations Student Society of America and recently finished an internship working in public relations at University News Services. She plans on working within the realm of international politics after graduation.

Megan VerHelst
senior
Mason City, Iowa
VerHelst is majoring in journalism with a second concentration in nonfiction writing. Before transferring to The University of Iowa, she was a staff reporter and feature editor for Logos, North Iowa Area Community College’s student newspaper. She is also a freelance writer for the Mason City Globe-Gazette. After graduation in December, VerHelst hopes to complete an internship before settling into the workforce.

Kelly Warren
senior
Clinton, Iowa
Warren is a double major in journalism and sociology. She writes the newsletter for Dance Marathon and is also an executive committee member for the Public Relations Student Society of America. After graduation in May, Warren hopes to work for a public relations firm dealing primarily with non-profit organizations.

Rob Wilkie
senior
St. Paul, Minn.
Wilkie is a double major in political science and journalism and will graduate in May. Upon graduation, he plans on attending law school in the Midwest. Wilkie has worked with the Office of Admissions and University Housing during his tenure at Iowa. He is also involved with the Eastern Iowa Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the UI College Republicans. Wilkie is recently engaged and plans to wed in June.

Richard Johns

Adviser and editor Richard Johns is an adjunct instructor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In addition to teaching the Advanced Media Design course (19:178) which produces the Iowa Journalist he also teaches the Methods of Secondary School Journalism (19:101). He was honored in September by the Illinois Journalism Education Association awarding him the 2007 Friend of Scholastic Journalism Award.
