DITV students won 14 awards at the Iowa Broadcast News Association Convention in Clear Lake, Iowa, on May 5.

Of the awards won four were for first place, five were second place, four third place and one honorable mention.

The first place awards :Becky Bereiter for spot news coverage “Tornado”; NABJ’s “The Word” for “Crash Moments” in the public affairs category; the DITV news team for best newscast “10/9/2006” ; and DITV for best sportscast “10/22/2006.”

Second place awards :Jay Knoll for “Apple Cider”; Jay Knoll for “Apple Cider” in the feature category; Whitney Givens for “Aderoll Dangers” in the in-depth series and DITV coverage for “Election Night”; and Shelby Cloke for “Blood Donations”

Third place awards :Shelby Cloke for “Murder Search’; Katie Martin for “State Fair”; Randy Satovitz for “Kerry in Iowa” and Sarah Overbeeke for “Jails”.

Honorable Mention was won by Whitney Givens for “Smoking Ban” in the in-depth series category.
