You Are Invited To Participate

In The 2006 IPLS Mentor Program!

  • Goal:
The IPLS Mentor Program seeks to foster professional exchange between Iowa law students and intellectual property practitioners.
  • How it Works:
Each student participant is matched with an intellectual property lawyer who has agreed to serve as a mentor for the Spring semester. The official contact period will be from February to April. Students may engage their mentors in dialogue about the intellectual property law job market, the nature of the practice, substantive intellectual property law topics, career guidance and course planning, and other topics of mutual interest.
  • History:
Professor Janis organized the Mentor Program in 1995. Since then, over 200 students and several dozen mentors have participated in the program. Mentors come from a wide array of private law firms and corporations, located in all regions of the country. This past years program was a great success due to the hard work of IPLS members and their lawyer mentors.
  • What To Do:
    Students:
If you are interested in this program, please download and print the attached Match Sheet (Word format) and return it to Prof. Mark Janis by way of his secretary Kati Jumper in Room 469. Participants will receive mentor contact information via email.
    Lawyers:
If you are interested in being a mentor please complete the the Mentor Sheet (pdf format) and return it to Professor Mark Janis by email or regular mail.

Thanks & I hope you’ll participate! The Mentor Program is a great way to get a handle on the IP Law field and to start building a network of contacts.

Mark D. Janis & Christina Bohannan
