Nachte Raho 2009
Welcome!
For the past six years, NR has been a thriving cultural program at the University of Iowa. With the tremendous success of our show over the past few years, we have quickly become the biggest intercollegiate dance competition in the Midwest. Last year, we transitioned from a regional to a national competition.
Our competition typically features three of the most popular styles of Indian dance: Dandia-Raas, Bhangra, and Bollywood Fusion.
Traditionally, eight teams are chosen among a range of applicants to come to Iowa City. For the function, teams each prepare and present five to ten-minute dances in competition for $5000 in total prize money.
Grand Prize — $3500
Second Prize — $1000
Third Prize — $500
This year’s show will be held on March 7 at 7 PM in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge. It will be preceded by a catered dinner reception by Taj Mahal from 5-6:30 PM in the Iowa Memorial Union Second Floor Ballroom.
