Marilynne Robinson Awarded 2012 National Humanities Medal

Workshop faculty member Marilynne Robinson was awarded the 2012 National Medal Humanities Medal in a ceremony today from President Barack Obama. President Obama delivered remarks and presented awards to Robinson and twenty-three other writers, scholars, and artists in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the arts and humanities. 

In the award citation, Robinson was recognized "for her grace and intelligence in writing. With moral strength and lyrical clarity, Dr. Robinson’s novels and nonfiction have traced our ethical connections to people in our lives, explored the world we inhabit, and defined universal truths about what it means to be human."
