Workshop Alumnus Wins 2008 Walt Whitman Award

Congratulations to Jonathan Thirkield (MFA 2003). His collection, The Waker's Corridor, was selected by Linda Bierds for the 2008 Walt Whitman Award, presented by the Academy of American Poets.
The Walt Whitman Award was established in 1975 to encourage the work of emerging poets and to enable the publication of a poet's first book. The Waker's Corridor will be published by LSU Press in 2009.
