Workshop Graduate Wins 2008 Yale Series of Younger Poets Competition

Congratulations to Arda Collins (MFA 2004), winner of the 2008 Yale Series of Younger Poets Competition. Her collection, The Waker's Corridor, selected by judge Louise Glück, will be published by Yale University Press in 2009.

Past winners of the Yale Younger Poets prize include Muriel Rukeyser, Adrienne Rich, Robert Hass, John Ashbery, John Hollander, James Tate, and Carolyn Forché. Founded 1919, it is the oldest literary award in the United States, one with a long tradition of publishing the first collections of talented American poets.

Arda Collins's poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The New Yorker, The American Poetry Review, A Public Space, jubilat, and the Canary. She is an editor of the online poetry journal GutCult, and lives in New York City.
