Bonnie
Brennen, Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at Temple University,
former Chair, Journalism, School of Communications and Theatre at Temple.
Previously, she served on the faculties of the University of Missouri-Columbia,
Virginia Commonwealth University and the State University of New York Geneseo
and also spent several years working as a journalist and in corporate communications.

Soloski, professor
and former dean, Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University
of Georgia. Ph.D., Mass Communication, and M.A., Journalism, University of
Iowa. From 1996-2001, Dr. Soloski was director of Journalism and Mass Communication
at the University of Iowa. He was editor of Journalism and Communication
Monographs from 1994 to 2002. He is a member of the editorial boards of Newspaper
Research Journal, Mass Communication Review, Communication Law and Policy

Roger
Thurow,
B.A., 1979,
began his career at the Wall Street Journal as
an intern in the Atlanta bureau in 1979 and has been with the newspaper ever
since. His positions include stints in the Dallas and Houston bureaus and as
an overseas correspondent in Bonn, Johannesburg, and Vienna. As a front-page
senior writer, he is now based in Europe, writing features for the paper. Roger
was a 2004 Pulitzer finalist in the international category for his reporting
on "Third World Hunger." His
work on the AIDS crisis in Botswana, Ghana and other African countries is recognized

Dean
Mills is
professor and dean of the Missouri School of Journalism. Mills received his
Ph.D. in communications from the University of Illinois. and M.A. from The
University of Michigan. He earned a B.A. in Russian and journalism at the
University of Iowa. Mills also served as director of the Pennsylvania State
University's School of Journalism and then as coordinator of graduate study
in communications at California State University, Fullerton. Before entering
academia, he was Moscow Bureau Chief for the Baltimore Sun .
From 1972 to 1975 he was a Sun correspondent
in Washington, D.C., where he covered the Watergate scandal,
the resignation of Vice President Spiro T. Agnew and the Roe vs. Wade Supreme

Kirsten
Scharnberg,
is
a national correspondent for the Chicago Tribune ,
based in the newspaper's New York bureau. She has been with the paper since
1999, and has spent time working on most Tribune news desks,
including metro, projects, politics, national, foreign, features and the Sunday magazine.
She has extensively covered the war and ongoing conflict in Iraq, spending
more than eight months in Iraq. She also has reported from Africa for the
paper. Before coming to the Tribune ,
Scharnberg was a reporter at the Baltimore Sun and The
Des Moines Register .
She was editor of The Daily Iowan from

Dana
Roberson is an
associate producer for the CBS News program 60 Minutes II .
Over a 15 year career at CBS she has produced segments for Face the Nation,
Sunday Morning with Charles Kuralt/Charles Osgood, Fantastic Journey, Coast
to Coast, and Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel .
She has covered events from the dragging death of an African-American man in
Jasper, Texas and the World Trade Center tragedy to the fall of the Taliban
in Afghanistan. She is the recipient of two American Women in Radio and Television
Awards, a National Association of Black Journalists Honor and an Emmy nomination.
She received a BA in journalism from The University of Iowa in 1987.
Tom
Duncan, Daniels
College of Business, University of Denver, Ph.D., in mass communication,
University of Iowa, M.A., in advertising, Northwestern University;
B.S. in journalism with an advertising major and a marketing minor, Northwestern
University. Tom Duncan founded the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC)
graduate program at the University of Colorado in 1993. He now teaches at
the Daniels College of Business (University of Denver) where he is directing

Mike
Beck is originally from Leavenworth, Kan. Mike worked for the Fort Scott (Kan.) Tribune ,
the Topeka Capital-Journal , the Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press ,
and the Ithaca (N.Y.) Journal . Mike has taken home numerous journalism
awards at the state and national levels, including the Robert F. Kenney
Journalism Award . He is also a two-time winner of the President's
Ring , the highest honor for an editor awarded by Gannett Co., parent company
of the Press-Citizen. He is president and publisher of the Iowa

Joe Hladky III,
was born March 20, 1940, and attended public schools in Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
and the University of Iowa -- graduating in 1962 with a B.A. Hladky worked
for the Bank of California, 1962-1963; Cedar Rapids Gazette , 1963-present,
where he served varying periods in the Circulation Department, Display Advertising
Department, and as Production Manager. President and publisher of The
Gazette Company since 1980, publisher of the Gazette newspaper. The
Gazette Company's other subsidiaries are KCRG television and radio as well

Liz
Mathis. is
currently president of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication's
Professional Advisory Board. Liz has been appearing on Eastern Iowa television
for almost 25 years. She's been at KCRG-TV9 since 1998 as co-anchor of the
five and six o'clock news. Liz graduated from the University of Iowa in 1980
with a BA in journalism and mass communication and broadcasting and film
(double major). Prior to going to KCRG, she was the Communication Arts Department
Chair at Wartburg College, teaching broadcast journalism and First Amendment
law classes. Her broadcast career has taken her to places like Nicaragua
and the Philippines, three National Political Conventions and disaster sites
across the Midwest. She has written thousands of general assignment stories

Art
Slusark is
Vice President of Corporate Communications and Government Relations for Meredith
Corporation. Before joining Meredith, Art was the Director of Public
Information for Baltimore (MD) Gas & Electric Company. Prior to
BG&E, he was Director of Public Relations at Blue Cross and Blue Shield
of Maryland. Earlier in his career, Art was a staff writer and editor
for several newspapers, including The Baltimore Sun and The
Washington Times .
He has a Master's of Administrative Science degree from The Johns Hopkins
University in Baltimore, MD, with a major in business management. His
undergraduate degree is from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA, with a
double major in journalism and political science. Art's daughter, Jane is
currently attending the University of Iowa, where she is a Daily Iowan scholar

Nancy L. Green is Publisher of The Courier in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Iowa and Vice President - Circulation at Lee Enterprises, Inc. Before joining Lee in December 2000, she was a vice president in the University System of Georgia. Previously, Green was the assistant to the president/newspaper division on the Gannett corporate staff and publisher of two Gannett newspapers- The Springfield (MO) News Leader and The Richmond (IN) Palladium-Item. Before joining Gannett, she was the general manager of student media at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Kentucky. A native of Lexington, Kentucky, she received BA and MA degrees in journalism from the University of Kentucky and Ball State University and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. She serves on the board of directors of the INMA North American Division, the NAA Circulation Federation and the Student Press Law Center. She is a member of the NAA Postal Committee, Readership Advisory Group and Diversity Subcommittee. PLAY VIDEO
