Ann Haugland's research stems from an interest in the sociology of culture, especially the distinctions between high and popular culture. Her work has appeared in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Book History, American Journalism, The Lion and the Unicorn, and Javnost: The Public.
She has taught at Illinois State University and Middle Tennessee State University Teaching areas include: public relations principles, writing, and campaign; mass communication and society, popular culture, and media organizations.
Haugland has ten years experience in public relations and book publishing.
She worked at the University of Minnesota Press, the Federal Reserve Bank
of Minneapolis, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
Haugland holds a BA in history from Carleton College, an MA in political
science from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in Mass Communications
from the
University of Iowa.
