Housing
Costs for room and board for the Teachers Workshops are in addition to the workshop fee. Housing arrangements are made directly with the Summer Journalism Workshops office.

Rooms are in Currier or Mayflower Residence Hall. University of Iowa student rooms are furnished with beds, mattresses, desks, chairs, sinks and draperies. In each residence hall, you will find study lounges, vending machines and utility areas equipped with coin-operated washers and free dryers.

The price for a single room for the duration of one workshop is $227 (for private bathroom) or $201 (for shared bathroom). A separate check will be needed for housing.

To reserve housing, complete and return a copy of the housing contract available in PDF form or upon request from our office by calling 319-335-3455 or e-mail ihspa@uiowa.edu. See the housing contract for cancellation dates. Cancellations after the dates listed on the contract will be assessed a $50 service fee. If you do not arrange for housing at least four weeks before the workshop, space may not be available.

For more information about housing and to print our housing contract, see the Housing Information PDF and Contract PDF.

Meals
Some rooms may have sinks and apartment-size stoves and refrigerators, but residents must bring all cooking utensils. You may inquire as to whether such rooms are available for the week of the workshop that you wish to attend.

If you wish to eat at the newly remodeled Burge Marketplace, you may purchase meal tickets at the Marketplace entrance: $5 for breakfast and $7.50 for lunch or dinner.

A variety of attractive, quality restaurants as well as fast-food establishments are located within walking distance.
