Pam L-Z
Pam Larabee-Zierath (shown here with DEL, her cat) has been the half-time Campus Minister at Lutheran Campus Ministry since January of 1999. Pam is also a rostered Associate in Ministry of the ELCA. She got her bachelor's degree at the U of Illinois (which does make being a Hawkeye pretty tough at times) and her Master's of Theological Studies from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus Ohio.
Pam met her husband David at the Lutheran Campus Center in Champaign where they both were active as students. She served as regional rep on the National Student Movement Council her junior & senior years. Pam and David were later married (source of the hyphenated name for both which typically is shortened to "L-Z" because who wants to type all those letters) at the Campus Center. They adopted their daughter Jenny who was then baptized at the Campus Center. As you can tell, campus ministry has been pretty significant in their lives!
PLZ works the other half-of-her-time at Gloria Dei Lutheran as the Program Associate for Education and Youth Ministries. When not doing either of those things, she hangs out at her 1890's farmhouse on 4 acres near West Liberty with her dog and 6 cats. She and DLZ are working on a 2-acre planting of native grasses - a slow process that began in the spring of 2000 with a burn of the pasture-becoming-prairie. PLZ also became a speaker for the fair trade coffee project of Lutheran World Relief after a trip to Nicaragua in which she stayed at the home of a fair trade coffee farmer and helped pick coffee. You can buy fair trade coffee from her at cost.
PLZ's primary job at LCM is to provide support for the student leaders of LCM. You'll find her at LCM most often Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons and of course, on Sunday mornings.
