Pastor Rob
Pastor Robert Dotzel has been in Campus Ministry at the University of Iowa since 1997. Prior to this Rob served three former LCA and ELCA congregations in Kansas and Iowa. Rob is a graduate of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. He was ordained in 1982.
Pastor Rob is married to Stephanie Block Dotzel. Stephanie plays violin and conducts the orchestra at NW Junior High in Coralville. Rob and Stephanie have two daughters, Krista and Rebekah, who also play stringed instruments. Kirsta is working on her masters degree in anthropology at the University of Tuebingen in Germany, and Rebekah is a student at UI. The Dotzel family also has four cats and a dog named Connery (after Sean, of course)..
When not at the LCM campus center, you might find Rob walking Connery in the park, riding his bicycle about town, or fly fishing on an Iowa trout stream. Rob's latest hobby is playing the bodhran (Celtic drum) or guitar at Irish music sessions. Pastor Rob also teaches religion at Kirkwood Community College and enjoys taking students on mission trips or wilderness adventures to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota (where this photo was taken).
