Colloquium Series

Each semester, the School sponsors three colloquium speakers, who are invited to talk about library and information science topics of current interest. Colloquia are open to the public, and we encourage outside attendance. If you would like to suggest a speaker, please email us at slis@uiowa.edu.

Note: The colloqium schedule is posted at the beginning of each semester at:
http://www.uiowa.edu/%7Elibsci/newsevents.html#colloquia

Our Spring, 2004 colloquia will include a talk by:

Abigail Van Slyck - Dayton Associate Professor of Art History and Director of the Architectural Studies Program, Connecticut College

Professor Van Slyck is interested in the history of public libraries, culture, and class. In her work, she notes that libraries were "the first workspaces for middle-class women..." and "...some of the first public buildings to devote substantial space to children's use."

Monday, April 26, 2004, 2nd Floor Conference Room, Main Library
