Instructions for Preparing Manuscripts
for
Consideration
Listed
below are some general guidelines for authors submitting a manuscript to the Legislative
Studies Quarterly.
For more detailed instructions, please consult the "Style Manual
for Political Science" available from the American Political Science
Association. Eventually,
if the manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will be required to
provide two printed copies and a copy of the paper on a CD (PC compatible) in
one of the following formats: Microsoft Word for Windows V7.0, Microsoft Word
for DOS, or WordPerfect.
Manuscripts may be submitted in one of two forms: 1) Electronically as two Adobe Acrobat PDF files, one of them with all author self-identification information removed. 2) As hard copies in quadruplicate (three of them with all author self-identification information removed). In either form they should be double-spaced, with tables, figures, notes, and references on separate pages.
The manuscript (including tables, figures, notes, and references) should
not exceed 40 standard pages, double spaced.
Include
a 100-word abstract.
Double-space
the entire manuscript, including the abstract, appendices, notes, and .
references.
Use
a typeface of at least 12 pt.
Manuscript should be left justified with margins of at least 1 inch.
Notes
should appear as endnotes.
References
should appear at the end of the manuscript and should conform to APSA style.
All works cited in the text must be fully referenced at the end of the
manuscript.
Tables/Figures
should have indicators within the text but should appear on separate pages at
the end.
If the manuscript is accepted for publication, an electronic version of the figures must be provided, preferably in Microsoft Excel.
Include
a daytime phone number and e-mail address where the author(s) can be reached in
case questions arise during the editorial process.
