As editors of two regional journals and a student literary magazine—Midwest Quarterly, Kansas English and Cow Creek Review—our panel participants—including John Franklin, Celia Patterson, Lizanne Minerva Franklin, Blair Croan and Stephen Meats, all from Pittsburg (KS) State University—face and overcome various difficulties. Because we believe that journals appeal to our audience, we also believe that providing a forum for panel-provoked, interactive audience-enabled discussion of how journals are published should be of interest to readers, editors, potential editors and potential submitters. Topics for consideration include our various roles: editor, managing editor, assistant editor/intern, and poetry editor. Additional topics for discussion include editing philosophy and practice. And, of course, we welcome anecdotal, empirical evidence of editing experiences from either side of the desk.
