Our Mission:
Mortar Board, Incorporated, is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for their acheivements in scholarship, leadership and service, provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities, and encourages lifelong contributions to the global comunity.
| Mortar Board was founded February 16,
1918, at Syracuse, N.Y., by representatives from existing
senior honor societies at Cornell University, Ohio State
University, University of Michigan and Swarthmore College.
The purpose of this group is to provide
better cooperation between senior honor societies; to
promote college loyalty; to advance the spirit of service
and fellowship among university students; and to stimulate
and develop college students at the University of Iowa.
In short, our objective is service, scholarship and
leadership.
