Marian Lee

American pianist, Marian Lee, made her concert debut in high school performing with the Ann Arbor and Flint Symphony Orchestras in Michigan. She entered the Juilliard School as a scholarship student receiving Bachelor and Master degrees in Piano Performance under the guidance of Gyorgy Sandor and Seymour Lipkin. Subsequently, she was awarded the coveted Fulbright Grant to the former Soviet Union for Professional Studies at the Moscow Conservatory with Naum Shtarkman and most recently, completed her doctoral degree at the Peabody Conservatory of the John Hopkins University with Boris Slutsky.

Marian Lee made her New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall as winner of the Artists International Award. Dr. Lee has appeared internationally as soloist with the orchestras of the Moscow Sinfonietta, Pacific Ocean Orchestra, Azerbaijan State Philharmonic, Brjansk City Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra Filarmonica do Espirito Santo, and was featured in a nationally televised broadcast in Tchaikovsky Hall. In liaison with the U.S. State Department, Dr. Lee has also served as music ambassador for American contemporary music in Russia, Azerbaijan. Turkmenistan, and Poland. Additional concert highlights have taken place in Austria, Brazil. Byelorussia, Estonia, Italy, France, Thailand, and Lincoln Center.

An enthusiast of twentieth-century music, Dr. Lee is frequently invited to perform at international contemporary music festivals and has appeared with such distinguished ensembles as Continuum and the Seattle Chamber Players. She has given numerous world and US premieres by contemporary composers from Russia, France, Baltic Republics, and the United States.

As a pedagogue, Dr. Lee held a piano minor teaching assistantship at the Juilliard School and has taught piano literature and appreciation classes at the Johns Hopkins University. She has taught piano at the Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, CT, the Gilman School in Baltimore. MD. the Town School in New York City, and during the summers taught at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan.
