String and String Chamber Music StudiesThe University of Iowa School of Music offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Auditions are required for both graduate and undergraduate studies. Merit scholarships are available on a competitive basis for entering undergraduate students. Graduate students are eligible for graduate assistantships on a competitive basis. Other possible opportunites for graduate awards are Fellowships and a limited number of research assistantship positions which are also offered on a competitive basis. All string majors receive private instruction from the School of Music string faculty. Our graduates appear on concert stages throughout the world and teach on the faculties of major colleges, universities, conservatories, and public schools throughout the nation and abroad.
