Bachelor of Arts in
Performing Arts Entrepreneurship
The Division and the Tippie College of Business have partnered to offer
a joint undergraduate major in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship, leading
to a B.A. degree. Unlike an arts management degree, this major is designed
for students who intend to start and/or operate their own business in
the performing arts, as well as those interested in gaining a better
understanding of the entrepreneurial process as it relates to this specialized
field.
Offering professional studies in two areas of the performing arts
within the framework of a liberal arts education, this innovative program
encompasses a range of electives, permitting students to tailor areas
of specialization to their individual interests and talents. The unique
curriculum provides a venue for developing the skills necessary to be
strong, creative contenders in the competitive field of the performing
arts.
The B.A. in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship will be awarded upon
the successful completion of 54 to 57 semester hours (s.h.) of course
work culminating in a capstone course and a Cooperative Education Internship.
- All students in the major will choose a primary area of study in
Dance (26 s.h.), Theatre Arts (27 s.h.), or Music (26 s.h.)
- Students will choose a secondary area different from the primary
area. Secondary area requirements range from 15 s.h. (Dance or Theatre
Arts) to 18 s.h. (Music)
