Flood Information Updates (updated February, 2009)

Classes in Theatre Arts and many in the School of Music have returned to the arts campus spring semester. The new area, located behind Theatre Building and north of the Museum of Art (MA) will be referred to as TAF, or Temporary Arts Facility. Many School of Music courses are still being held at Clinton Street Music (CSM). Please check ISIS for classes in Theatre Arts and the School of Music to see if the location has changed to TAF or MA, and to find the latest course location information.

The first and second floors of the Theatre Building have been refurbished. Modular classrooms and studio units have been placed near the Theatre Building and the Museum of Art Building to take the place of offices and classrooms lost during the flood. These units will provide offices for faculty and staff members and all teaching assistants, as well as one classroom for Theatre Arts. Costume shop and storage areas will remain at Studio Arts.

The School of Music will hold orchestra and band rehearsals to the north end of the old Museum of Art building on N. Riverside Dr. The building has undergone extensive renovations to house ensemble practice areas, student practice rooms, and faculty and staff offices. Modular units adjacent to the Museum of Art house individual faculty studios for brass and woodwind faculty along with classrooms and offices for teaching assistants. Please check ISIS to see if your class has been relocated to TAF or MA.

Increased bus service will be provided to get students transported between the arts campus areas, Clinton Street Music, and the Pentacrest. Please check the Cambus website for routes and schedule information. The IMU is constructing a limited service café in the lobby of Theatre Building for all who use the arts campus.

The following links provide the schedule information and route maps for these two new routes. Service will begin on Monday, Aug. 25. Arts Campus Flooding: How You Can Help (updated 25-jul-08)

The UI Foundation established a flood relief fund. The first priority for this fund will be to assist students, faculty, and staff who have been displaced by the flooding. The second priority will be to help with reconstruction needs that are not met by other resources such as insurance.

For anyone who would like to contribute specifically to a department that has been impacted, such as the School of Music and Department of Theatre Arts, this is possible. There are two ways to make these gifts: 1) send a check made out to the UI Foundation and indicate in the comment line that the gift is for a specific department's flood relief (i.e. Music-flood relief); 2) make a gift online by going to www.uifoundation.org, clicking on the A-Z search, click on the unit (such as M to get to Music), and then on the department's general gift fund. During the process of making the online gift there will be a comment box. The donor should indicate in the comment box that the gift is for flood relief.
