Admission and Music Scholarship Form

The University of Iowa School of Music offers a large number of scholarships for students in every area of music. The amount of the award varies and ranges from $260 to full exemption or tuition. Minimum qualifications for an award stipulate that the student: 1) major in music, 2) participate in university musical groups as requested by the advisor, 3) have an overall University of Iowa GPA of 2.2 and a 2.5 GPA in music, 4) demonstrate above-average achievement in the applied music area, and 5) maintain a minimum enrollment of 12 credit hours each semester of the award. An audition is required [click here for audition requirements].

The School of Music requires this information prior to admission. It is both an audition report and a scholarship recommendation form. Part I is to be completed by the prospective student; Part II will be completed by the School of Music faculty member hearing the audition. Applications may be submitted at any time, but optimum consideration is given to applications received by March 15 for the following semester.

Completed applications are transmitted by e-mail and could be observed by third parties while in transit. If this concerns you, you may wish to print out the application, complete it, and send it to us by regular mail, or request an application from the Office of Admissions at 800-553-4692. For more specific questions, phone Pauline Wieland in the Academic Office at (319) 335-1604.
